I lost my wife nearly three years ago I've made a mess out of mine since then I've gotten in trouble and I've been drinking and now I fear that I'm going to be alone the rest of my life

Doug,

Sounds like you've been trying to cope with the pain of your loss in some self-destructive ways.

In addition to grief, many people become depressed (similar but different than grief). Please consider talking to a professional counselor, who can help you get a better handle on your feelings as well as show you more effective ways to cope with the pain.

The fact that you've reached out right now is positive because it's the important first step to turning your life around. The pain will soften, but sometimes we need extra support to get there.

Please take care of yourself and get the real help you need.
